There are 4 team options – Male, Female, Co-Ed (one female, one male), and youth (10 – 13 years).
-
It’s for all levels of Fitness, so grab your teammate and GO!
THE COMPETITION
- Start timer
- Teammate 1 – Row
- Teammate 2 – Run x 160 meters
- The moment teammate 2 returns from the 160 meter run, teammate 1 gets off the rower and begins their first 160 meter run.
- Teammate 2 gets on the rower and begins rowing.
- This rotation continues until both teammates complete 1600 meters/1 mile or running – 10 rounds which will equal a total of 3200 meters/2 miles of total running.
- The moment the last run is completed, the timer is stopped.
Scoring
Total time to complete 3200 meters of running in seconds minus total meters rowed divided by 10.
Example:
Total time in seconds to complete 3200 meters of running is 15:00 minutes = 900 seconds
Total meters rowed = 3750 meters / divided by 10 = 375
900 – 375 = 525
Sprint Rowlay DEKA Challenge score = 525
The lower the score the better.
Rules
The same rower must be used by both teammates
Treadmill running is NOT allowed. The 160 meters must be a measured 80 meter out and back or 160 meter loop course
Rollover meters count toward team total (do not reset the rower console during transitions)
The runner must tag the rower with a shoulder tap, hand slap, or other physical contact before the transitions occur.
